Now Hiring: Tasting Room Associate  

We seek a candidate who will challenge wine tasting traditions’ status quo and create world class experiences that excite and engage customers. The Tasting Room Associate is responsible for ensuring all guest receive exceptional customer service along with promoting the history and uniqueness of La Mesa Vineyards. The associate is responsible for building customer relations that will lead to wines sales, wine club memberships, and ticket sales for special events.

Essential Duties

  • Greet and assist guests in a friendly and prompt manner in person, over the phone, or by way of email
  • Pour wines for tasting in accordance with La Mesa’s policies and procedures
  • Educate guests on La Mesa’s wines, history, possible pairings, and wine selections
  • Promote wine sales, wine club subscriptions, non-wine merchandise, and special event initiatives
  • Process wine orders and Wine Club pick-ups through POS and Wine Club software
  • Efficiently handles basic POS transactions such as operating cash register, taking credit card payments, processing returns, and applying discounts
  • Promote and capture new email subscribers to La Mesa’s Newsletter
  • Process and take shipping orders as requested by customers
  • Stock wine, non-wine merchandise items, and supplies as needed
  • Work onsite winery events as well as off-site events for winery related functions
  • Follow procedures and policies for depleting wines for daily pours, donations, promotional, and wine club purposes
  • Must be able to handle various equipment such as hand-trucks and dolly’s to move heavy objects
  • Maintain tasting room’s interior and exterior appearance and cleanliness such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning glasses, pour buckets, pouring spouts, counters, and so forth
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Tasting Room Manager and Ownership as directed
  • Perform all opening and closing duties as directed
  • Follows all appropriate rules and regulations in accordance to COVID related procedures and policies
  • Acts in accordance with all ABC rules and regulations

Other Duties

  • Set-up and break down as needed for special events and daily agendas
  • Assist with inventory procedures with wine and non-wine related items
  • Assist Tasting Room Manager with wine club packaging and shipping
  • Contact wine club members for account updates, bad credit cards, declined wine club shipments, etc.
  • Other duties assigned as needed

Qualifications

  • Education: High School/GED preferred
  • Experience: One-year customer service experience
  • Cover Letter: Please attach cover letter
  • Must be 21 years of age or older with a valid Drivers Licenses
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Excellent customer service
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time not limited to bending, leaning, and pouring in a continuous manner
  • Required to work weekends, holidays, days, and nights as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task while working with little supervision, and is a team oriented
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills
