Uphill Vineyards wines now sold through La Mesa
May 22, 2025
We're pleased to announce that we have made special arrangements with Uphill Vineyards to continue to offer their remaining wines exclusively to Uphill Legacy club members at our Sutter Creek tasting room.
Uphill Vineyards owners Ira and Beth Rosenthal are retiring from the wine industry. “After an incredible journey since 2010, we have made the bittersweet decision to wind down our wine business and close our tasting room. La Mesa Vineyards will be selling our remaining wines to our existing club members at their brand-new tasting room in Sutter Creek, just across the street.
"We encourage you to visit and explore La Mesa's wines, which we believe you’ll find delightful.”
Côme Laguë, owner and winemaker at La Mesa Vineyards is pleased to share the news: "We are thrilled to welcome Uphill and their many fans. We have been making quality wines in Amador since 2011. For those who haven’t yet discovered our vineyard tasting room in Shenandoah Valley, I think they will be exceptionally happy to make their first trip here. We pride ourselves on offering one of the best experiences in Amador County for wine, with our modern tasting room, bistro, outdoor terrace and stunning views on the estate vineyards.”
Kristina Hodge, tasting room manager at Uphill Vineyards has been hired by La Mesa to continue working at the new Sutter Creek tasting room. Located at 59 Main Street, this places La Mesa directly in the heart of the old gold rush town. The tasting room is inside a 1800's era building, full of historic Gold Country charm and contemporary style.
Downtown Sutter Creek offers a picturesque backdrop of twinkling lights and decorations, and is known throughout California for its excellent wine tasting rooms, dining options and retail shopping. Knight Foundry is a prominent regional attraction, with its unique facility tours and events. Other attractions include the Farmer's Market, Wine on 49 events, the Old Sutter Flea Market as well as town parades throughout the year.
La Mesa Sutter Creek opens on Saturday, June 7th. Tasting Room hours continue as previous, Thursdays thru Mondays, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m..
Uphill Vineyards “Hilltop” club members continue with their pick-ups, with bottle discounts and membership benefits extending to both La Mesa locations. La Mesa club members will also get to enjoy their benefits at both locations. Details are forthcoming and will be communicated to members shortly.
Congratulations Ira and Beth on your upcoming retirement. You will be missed! Thank you for being an amazing part of our Amador winemaking community.
