Appellation:

Shenandoah Valley/El Dorado County

Winemaker Notes:

Tierra is the blending of 3 wines each produced at different times – Grenache (Alban clone), Syrah (877 French clone) and Mourvèdre (520 French clone) - a perfect balance that showcases the amazing region we have for making Rhône wines. Aged in ~25% French oak.

Vineyard Notes:

In 2021 we had our first excellent harvests of these as the grafting for Syrah and Mourvèdre was a great success. All three varietals are grown on our estate now, at 2,000-foot elevation in granitic and volcanic clay loam soil on special drought-tolerant rootstock with vines digging deep for natural water. The vines thrive in the warm daytime breezes from the Central Valley and cool Sierra evenings, a 30-degree swing in temperature, perfect for Rhône varietals.
