A premium red blend of our estate-grown Primitivo and Barbera. Our carefully balanced blend brings out the best of both wines. With the scent of chocolate-covered cherries, this wine draws you in at first smell and sip. Rich, dark fruits on both the nose and palate countered with a hint of granite edginess from our Sierra granitic soil, melding into a long, elegant “dances on your tongue” finish. Pair with heavier meats and roasted veggies. 14.7% alcohol. 47 cases produced.

Winemaker Notes:

Two of the top sellers in our tasting room are our Primitivo and Barbera, guests simply love them and we usually include one or the other in all red wine tasting flights and make it the grand finale of the flight. Back in 2017 we made a first trial batch of Primabera, blending Primitivo with the added boldness of Barbera. Based on that success we blended larger batches and fine-tuned the recipe to create a perfect balance showcasing the amazing region we have here for growing and making Italian wines. Aged in ~30% new French oak.

Vineyard Notes:

Our Primitivo vines are the oldest on our estate, planted in 2003 on deep-growing and drought-tolerant special rootstock, our Estate Old Vine Primitivo grows head-trained on a steep hillside at a 2,000-foot altitude in Amador County’s Shenandoah Valley of the Sierra Foothills. Our Estate Barbera grows on the upper hillside at 2,000-foot altitude planted in 2013 in the granitic and volcanic soil of our vineyard estate. The infamous Cooper Barbera vineyard, whose owner Dick Cooper being the one who introduced Barbera to Amador County, is very close by to ours.
